Benefits Enrollment & Education for CalFresh, MediCal & Related Programs

Our Benefits Enrollment and Education Program helps community members and Medi‑Cal enrollees understand, apply for, and keep vital benefits like CalFresh and Medi‑Cal. We offer one-on-one support, follow-ups, and easy-to-watch online classes that explain who qualifies, how the programs work, and how to avoid losing coverage.

What Benefits Enrolment Offers:

 

Personalized Benefits Support
We guide you through eligibility checks, applications, document submissions, and responses to county or health plan requests for CalFresh, Medi‑Cal, and related programs.

 

CalAIM-Aligned Care Coordination
If you’re a Medi‑Cal member, our support can integrate with Enhanced Care Management (ECM) or Community Health Worker services, helping address food insecurity, coverage gaps, and other social drivers of health.

 

On-Demand Online Classes
Learn at your own pace with short videos on topics like:

  • How to Apply for CalFresh

  • Understanding Medi‑Cal

  • Reporting Changes & Renewals

  • Avoiding Gaps in Your Benefits
    Watch anytime, on your phone or computer.

 

Who Can Use This Program

 

You qualify if you:

  • Live in Los Angeles, Orange, or Riverside Counties and need help with CalFresh or Medi‑Cal.

  • Already have Medi‑Cal and want help adding CalFresh, keeping coverage, or understanding letters and deadlines.

  • Work with a case manager, Community Health Worker, clinic, or ECM provider who wants to include benefits support in your care plan.

There’s no cost. Help Me Help You is an official LA County CalFresh outreach partner supporting low-income and uninsured residents.

 

How Our CalAIM Benefits Support Works

 

We can:

  • Screen you for CalFresh, Medi‑Cal, and related programs based on household size, income, and circumstances.

  • Help submit new applications or renewals, including uploading or faxing documents and troubleshooting common issues.

  • Coordinate with your Medi‑Cal plan’s care managers so coverage and food support are integrated into your CalAIM care plan.

  • Provide recorded online classes as standalone learning or “homework” recommended by your care team.

Program Requirements

To get full CalAIM-aligned support, you will need to:

  • Share basic info about your household, income, and current benefits for eligibility screenings.

  • Provide consent if you want us to share information with your health plan, clinic, or ECM provider.

  • Some Medi‑Cal members may need plan confirmation that benefits navigation is part of authorized services.

Everyone can still watch our online classes for free, even if not enrolled in CalAIM or ECM.

How to Get Help

1. One-on-One Enrolment Assistance

  • Or fill out the “Request Benefits Help” form below, with your contact info, preferred language, and the type of help you need (CalFresh, Medi‑Cal, or both).

  • Our team will schedule a phone appointment or meet you at a nearby location.

 

2. Online Benefits Classes

  • See our list of free online classes.

  • Click “Register Now”, fill out a short form, and get instant access to the video and handouts.

  • If a doctor, case manager, or Community Health Worker asked you to take a class, include their name and your health plan so we can track your participation.
